This holiday home of the KSDW has been available to rent since spring 2005.
Location
The Eyserbeck-House is part of a complex of outbuildings within the »Luisium« in Dessau-Waldersee.
Historic significance
The outbuildings (c.1750-1775) consist of half-timbered structures arranged in an open square with a central courtyard. One of the buildings was the home of the court gardener Johann Friedrich Eyserbeck (1734–1818). He is considered one of the most capable gardeners of Prince Franz and worked in Wörlitz, Oranienbaum and the Luisium.
Floods in 2002
The entire garden with all its structures, including the former home of the court gardener, was flooded during the catastrophic floods in 2002. The building, which was first erected in 1750 and later altered, was subsequently restored with considerable effort. As happens from time to time with historic buildings, removal of various layers of paint revealed extensive remains of historic paint which encouraged us to reconstruct the historic colour scheme and thus create a particularly attractive holiday home. At the same time we reconstructed the historic floors, windows and doors. New additions are the open fireplace, tiled stoves operated through a hot-water heating system and a range of modern appliances.
Furnishings
You can expect a spacious two-bedroom flat with bath, toilet and kitchen. The furnishings – partly antique – will meet even the highest expectations. A bedroom with double bed and optional additional bedding in the lounge offers room for four guests. Adjacent to the dining room with fireplace are a bathroom and kitchen. A spacious hallway is located on the central axis of this flat. Our aim is to help the friends on the Garden Kingdom to appreciate nature and art. We have therefore deliberately not installed a telephone connection, TV and radio in our guest houses!
